Cookie Policy
Last updated: 7 May 2026
This policy lists every cookie and tracking technology we may set on your device when you visit cranberryhome.co.uk. We’ve grouped them by purpose so you can decide what to allow and what to refuse, and you can change your mind at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.
For the wider context — what data we collect, why, and how to exercise your rights — see our Privacy Policy.
Categories at a glance
- Strictly necessary — essential for the site to work; cannot be turned off.
- Analytics — let us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Off until you opt in.
- Marketing — reserved for future advertising / remarketing; currently inactive.
- Functional — small UX conveniences (chatbot thread continuity, etc.). Off until you opt in.
How consent works
When you first visit the site, our cookie banner asks for your preferences. We use Google Consent Mode v2 so that:
- Before consent — no
_ga*Google Analytics cookies are set on your device. Only an anonymised “cookieless ping” is sent to Google so they can model traffic counts. No client identifier, no behavioural data. - After “Accept all” — we set the cookies listed below and start collecting full GA4 events.
- After “Reject all” — nothing changes; we continue with cookieless pings only.
- Custom preferences — same as Reject by default, with each category you toggle on switched accordingly.
Your choice is remembered in a single first-party cookie called ch-consent-v1 (see the table below) for 12 months.
The full list
Strictly necessary
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
ch-consent-v1 | Cranberryhome | Records your cookie preferences (which categories you’ve allowed). Without it we’d ask you on every visit. | 12 months |
cb-chat-thread (localStorage) | Cranberryhome | Continues your conversation with Coco the Catbot if you reload the page mid-chat. | Until you clear browser data |
cb-chat-name (localStorage) | Cranberryhome | Remembers the name you gave Coco so she can greet you back. | Until you clear browser data |
Analytics
| Cookie / SDK | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes unique users so traffic counts aren’t double-counted. | 13 months |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics 4 | Persists session state for GA4 (page-views, custom events, scrolls). | 13 months |
gtag.js (script) | Loads the Google Analytics 4 measurement library. Sets the cookies above when consent is granted. | n/a — script load |
We’ve configured GA4 with anonymise IP, ads_data_redaction on, and url_passthrough on. We do not enable GA4’s Google Signals (cross-device tracking) or Demographics & Interests reporting.
Marketing
Currently none. This category is reserved so that if we ever add advertising or remarketing pixels (Meta, LinkedIn, Google Ads), the consent infrastructure is already in place — you’ll see them appear here and they’ll be off by default until you opt in.
Functional
Currently none beyond the strictly-necessary localStorage entries listed above. Reserved for future UX enhancements that benefit from cross-visit memory.
Third-party tools that may be invoked during certain features
These are not cookies set on first visit, but are worth disclosing for completeness:
- OpenAI — when you chat with Coco the Catbot, your messages are sent to OpenAI for processing. No cookies are set on your device by OpenAI.
- Leonardo.ai — when you use the Virtual Makeover, your uploaded photo is sent to Leonardo for AI processing. No cookies are set on your device by Leonardo.
- Mailgun — sends our automated reply emails after a form submission. No cookies set on your device.
- Google Fonts — the typographic fonts (Josefin Slab, Lato) used on the site are self-hosted from our own server, not loaded from Google’s CDN. No Google-Font cookies are set.
Changing or withdrawing consent
You can change your preferences at any time:
- Click “Cookie preferences” in the footer of any page on the site.
- Toggle the categories you do and don’t want, then click “Save preferences”.
- The next page navigation will use your new choices. Any GA4 cookies for categories you’ve turned off will expire on their own (or you can clear them in your browser).
If you’d like a record of the consent choice we have on file for you, or you’d like us to delete it, email hello@cranberryhome.co.uk.
